Second person dies from car-bus collision in Hunting Hills
A second person has died from the accident in Hunting Hills last week where a car struck a school bus.
Here’s a release from the Roanoke County police:
The passenger in the car that struck a Roanoke County school bus last week passed away over the weekend.
42-year-old Christopher Duane Garrett of Wirtz was seriously injured in the crash and died at a local hospital on Sunday. The driver of the car that Garrett was riding in died at the scene. Police say 39-year-old Donna Jean Divers of Wirtz lost control of the Nissan Altima she was driving, slid sideways, and struck the front of the bus. Speed was determined to be a factor in the crash.
The bus was traveling to Cave Spring Middle school and had five people aboard. Nobody on the bus was seriously injured in the crash, which happened at 8:00 a.m. in the 5200 block of Hunting Hills Drive, near the Country Club.
