Author Melodie Rakes to hold book signing at Barnes & Noble on Dec. 8

Author Melodie Rakes will hold a book signing Dec. 8 at 12 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 4478 Electric Road in Roanoke.

Rakes, a resident of Moneta, will be available to sign copies of her book, “Woman of Fairville.”

For Bobbie Jo Patterson, a cheating lover is just one case of bad luck out of hundreds. In her hometown of Fairville, Ohio, Bobbie Jo can’t seem to find a man who loves and respects her. Though she gives every ounce of love she can muster in each relationship, her lovers always seem to let her down.

As her misfortune grows, so does her reputation. After unsuccessful relationships push her mother and best friend away, it doesn’t take long before almost everyone in Fairville is pushing her away. Or at least it seems that way to Bobbie. Then one day, she meets Zachary Arthur Huntington, a man new to Fairville. Will he be the man to turn Bobbie’s life around? Or will she find she’s invested her love in someone who can’t measure up? Find out in Melodie Rakes’ emotionally compelling novel based on the biblical story of the Samaritan woman at the well, “Woman of Fairville.”
