Hidden Valley Youth Wrestlers attended the first annual Titan youth wrestling tournament held on December 15, 2012 at Hidden valley High School.  The tournament was divided into an Elementary School division with Kindergarten -1st grade, 2nd and 3rd grade and 4th and -5th grade divisions.  The Middle school Division was from 6th – 8th grade.

Elementary School division:
Chris Comer (2 – 3 grade division) wrestled in 2 pee wee weight classes. He won gold in the 59 lb. class with a 6 – 4 victories over a Franklin County wrestler, a 7 – 1 victory over another Franklin County wrestler, and a 2 – 0 win over a Highland grappler.  Chris captured a silver medal in the 61 lb. pee wee class.  He began with a 1st period pin over a Highland wrestler followed by a 6 – 1 triumph against a Botetourt opponent.  Chris lost his final match on points against a Roanoke Catholic foe.

Dylan Laprad 1st place competed in the 4th -5th grade division. Dylan scored a Technical Fall decision (greater than 15 points) and a pin over a Riverhead wrestler to take home the Gold medal.

Sam McCown (1st Year) wrestled in the K-1 division 52 pound weight class.  Sam received the silver medal, taking 2nd place for the division. First match against Roanoke Catholic won 9-7. In his second match against King Elementary won by a pin and in his Third match Sam came up short against a Roanoke Catholic rival.

Landon Blackshear Won his first match 4-0 against Roanoke Catholic.  Won second Match he pinned a Hidden Valley Teammate, but came up short in a battle for first place against a Misfit wrestler.

Tyler Duffy (1st Year) placed 3rd in his 3rd-4th grade division. Tyler had a 10-8 decision over a River Head opponent and brought home the Bronze medal.

Austin Dotson 3rd Place pinned a Highland County wrestler to take home the Bronze medal.

Cole Janiga (1st Year) 3rd place in 4-5 grade division 52-62 lb. weight-class scored a 13-4 victory over a Beckley west VA wrestler took home the Bronze medal.

Ethan Leonard 3rd place defeated a fellow Hidden Valley wrestler by pin to take home the Bronze medal.
Levi Ricky (1st Year) 3rd place in the 47 lb. weight-class secured a victory over a fellow Hidden Valley wrestler to secure the Bronze medal.

Sam Batista Carter Beal, Tyler Booth, Santana Bullock, Andrew Oertie, and Gabe Wheaton (1st Year wrestlers) competed in their respective grade divisions and weight divisions but finished outside the medals.

Middle School 6th through 8th Grade Division

Kiel Cook 1st Place in the 150 lb. weigh-class.    Kiel pinned opponents from Smith Mountain Lake, Riverhead and Hidden Valley to earn the Gold medal.
Jordan Duncan 2nd Place, Jordan defeated a Roanoke Catholic opponent 14-2 and a Northside competitor   11-4 to earn the Silver Medal.

Issac Nichols (1st Year) entered his first tournament and scored a pin over an unidentified opponent and capture his first competitive medal wrestling.

Nate Goad and Keaton Thorum were competitive but were unable to secure any medals.
