Blue Ridge Flower Show Judges Council announces event January 31

The Blue Ridge Flower Show Judges Council will present a Small Standard Flower Show, Brush Up On Your Shakespeare on Thursday, January 31, 2013, (Snow Date – February 7, 2013) from 12:00 noon.- 3:00 p. m. at the Roanoke Council of Garden Clubs Center on 3640 Colonial Avenue in Roanoke.All classes of the show are open to any member of a garden club who is a member of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. The show will be followed by demonstrations presented by judges in the Council. Admission is free and open to the public.

The show will feature horticulture specimens in sections such as, Tropical (Indoor) Foliage – “When I consider everything that grows…”; Blooming Plants – “Lull’d in these flowers with dances and delight”; Container Grown Plants, Foliage – “There’s rosemary, that’s for remembrance”; Evergreen Boughs – “Orpheus with his lute made trees…” The Design Division includes three classes with designer’s choice options: A Midsummer Night’s Dream and As You Like It to be staged on a pedestal 40” tall and a small (8” maximum size design), Much Ado About Nothing.

The Blue Ridge Flower Show Judges Council is a memberof theNational Garden Clubs, Inc., South Atlantic Region, Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc., and the Blue Ridge District of Garden Clubs.
