BP Fueling Communities and Apple Market awards MDA of Southwest & Central Virginia $12,500 for education and health programs

We are please to announce that MDA of Southwest & Central Virginia received $12,500 from the BP Fueling Companies grant program. BP Fueling Communities provides grant donations to local organizations that are nominated by local BP owners to support communities in which they do business. Fueling Communities gives back to local organizations that support health and education in order to spread charity and goodwill wherever it’s needed most. Apple Market/Workman Oil of Forest, VA nominated MDA of Southwest and Central Virginia. Apple Market’s nomination of MDA for the Fueling Communities Award builds upon a multi-year relationship between MDA and Apple Market.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association, one of the world’s most respected health agencies, is a voluntary national health agency-aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect hundreds of thousands of Americans. All funds raised directly benefit local men, women, and children served by MDA. Funds will be used to pay for MDA Clinic Visits, various types of therapy, research, support groups, flu shots, and to repair medical equipment. Much of the money will help send children ages 6 – 17 to a week of MDA Summer Camp; while at camp, the campers swim, ride horses and canoes, sing, dance, and do all of the other things that healthier children can do all year long. MDA does not receive any government grants or funding from the United Way. Located in Roanoke VA, MDA of Southwest and Central Virginia provides a variety of services to approximately 1,000 local client families served.

For more information regarding MDA, or for more information about supporting MDA locally, please contact Leslie Bauguss at 540-772-3237.
