Goodlatte nominates Hidden Valley senior for Air Force Academy
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bob Goodlatte announced today that he has nominated the following students to a military academy. These students would enter in the fall of 2013 and be members of the graduating Class of 2017.
Shannon Conway, daughter of Wayne Conway and Evelyn Kelley, is a current senior at Hidden Valley High School and a resident of Roanoke. She has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.
John Dorsey, son of Douglas and Susan Dorsey, is a current senior at Patrick Henry High School and a resident of Roanoke. He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.
Brandon Gil, son of Lawrence and Kimberly Gil, is a current senior at Lord Botetourt High School and a resident of Daleville. He has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.
Will Harris, son of Robert and Karen Harris, is a current senior at William Fleming High School and a resident of Roanoke. He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.
Obie Okeyo, son of Ruphina Okeyo, is a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy and a resident of Roanoke. He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.
“It is my honor to nominate these young individuals to compete for an appointment to the United States Service Academies. The Academies provide students the opportunity to receive a top-notch educational experience and join the world’s finest fighting force. Upon appointment, I am confident they will serve our country with distinction. Folks in the Roanoke Valley can be proud of these hard working nominees. I wish them the best and thank them for their willingness to serve this great nation,” said Goodlatte.
