Six from Southwest Roanoke County named to dean’s list at Hampden-Sydney

The following local students attending Hampden-Sydney College were named to the Dean’s List for the Fall semester of the 2012-2013 academic year:

Taylor William Bohon – Taylor is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Sy Bohon, Jr. of Roanoke.

Matthew Mason Burnette – Matt is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and completed post-graduate work at Massanutten Military Academy and is the son of Wes & Melanie Burnette Roanoke.

David Lawrence Dodson – David is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and is the son of Earl & Bonnie Dodson of Roanoke.

Jacob Alexander Hubbard – Jake is a graduate of Hidden Valley High School and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Ryland H. Hubbard, Jr. of Roanoke.

John Michael Simonic – Michael is a graduate of Hidden Valley High School and is the son of Patrick & Jill Simonic of Roanoke.

Adam Markley Witham – Adam is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and is the son of Michael & Dianne Witham of Roanoke.

To earn this distinction, students must achieve at least a 3.3 semester grade point average out of a possible 4.0.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
