PRESENTING “BANDFEST 2013”

FEBRUARY 23, 7:30pm AT NORTHSIDE H.S.

The event features local bands and positive messages:

The Roanoke County Public Schools Student Advisory Council (SAC) is proud to partner with the Roanoke County Prevention Council, RAYSAC and local business sponsors to present “Bandfest 2013” on Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Northside H.S. big gym located adjacent to Northside Middle School.

“The purpose of Bandfest 2013 is three-fold. It is a valley-wide event for young people in middle school and high school, designed to provide a venue for students to showcase their music, have fun and also hear exciting messages to encourage students to follow their dreams and avoid risky behaviors that could shatter those dreams,” said SAC sponsor, Michele Dowdy.

Several local student bands will compete for cash prizes and the winning title. There will be activities and games between band performances. The cost of admission is $5 or $3 with a donation of 2 cans of food. All canned food collected at the event will be donated to the Feeding America of Southwest Virginia food bank.
