The Roanoke County Public Schools Student Advisory Council is proud to partner with the Roanoke County Prevention Council, RAYSAC and local business sponsors to present Bandfest 2013 on Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Northside High School big gym located adjacent to Northside Middle School.

“The purpose of Bandfest 2013 is three-fold. It is a valleywide event for young people in middle school and high school, designed to provide a venue for students to showcase their music, have fun and also hear exciting messages to encourage students to follow their dreams and avoid risky behaviors that could shatter those dreams,” said SAC sponsor Michele Dowdy.

Several local student bands will compete for cash prizes and the winning title. There will be activities and games between band performances. The cost of admission is $5 or $3 with a donation of 2 cans of food. All canned food collected at the event will be donated to the Feeding America of Southwest Virginia food bank.
