McDaniel finishes season strong at the State Wrestling Championships
Chase McDaniel, a junior at Cave Spring High School, placed third in his weight class at the Group AA High School State Wrestling Championships on February 15-16, 2013 at the Salem Civic Center. This 138-pounder competed in what has been said to be the most challenging weight class at State this year so to place in the top three is impressive. McDaniel is the first wrestler in the history of Cave Spring Knights wrestling program to be a three-time state placer, not to mention consecutive; he was a state runner-up in both 2011 and 2012. Finishing the season with a record of 20-6 and a career record of 103-21, McDaniel looks forward to his next match and is as steady and determined as ever. He and his teammates are now preparing for the National High School Coaches Association national tournament on April 3-7 in Virginia Beach.
