North Cross swimmers shine in VISAA meet

North Cross Swimmers travelled to Richmond on February 15 and 16 to compete in the VISAA State Swim Meet. The events were held in the Aquatics Center of Collegiate School.

The VISAA meet is always expected to be an exciting and competitive weekend, and this year’s results can be summed up in one word – fast! Raiders’ coach Greg Lake was excited by his swimmers’ efforts. “You go into this meet knowing the competition will be pretty amazing. These are great athletes, and our group was ready to race. They’ve been working hard, and it showed.”

Seeding is based on swimmers’ times, and Raider swimmers were seeded highly in this statewide meet. Lake says, “I felt good about our chances to surprise the competition, but I’m not that surprised myself. My team was ready, and they came prepared to give each race their best effort. They dropped time in each event, and I think they even surprised themselves with how competitive they are. Though we will definitely miss Mac (McNally), next season is looking great. We have a strong group of younger swimmers who will only get stronger and faster.”
