Star City Roller Girls start 2013 Season with a bang Feb. 16

Roanoke’s hometown roller derby team, the Star City Roller Girls (SCRG), will open its season at the Icimani Adventure Center Saturday February 16th. The event will feature Star City Roller Girls vs. Beckley Area Derby Dames. The bout begins at 6pm; doors open at 5:30 p.m. Icimani Adventure Center is located at 5488 Yellow Mountain Rd, Roanoke, VA 24014. SCRG is partnering with Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center (BRAAC) for the first bout with a percentage of the ticket sales going to their organization.

TICKETS

Oct 26 – Monster Mash-Up

After Party: Celebrate with SCRG directly after the bout at The Elephant Walk, located at: 4468 Starkey Rd, Roanoke, VA 24018. Inside the Holiday Inn, Tangelwood.

About Derby and SCRG:

Roller derby is an all-female, flat-track and skater-operated sport. SCRG is a skater-owned and operated flat track roller derby team. Established in 2006, the SCRG are constantly evolving and growing. SCRG are in their apprenticeship with Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (www.wftda.org). The team is skater-operated and consists of volunteers to produce the bouts and events throughout the year. The team is proudly reviving the American tradition of roller derby by bringing the sport to a new generation of Roanoke fans and offering a unique blend of athletic competition and entertainment.
