Virginia Western and Roanoke County Officials Celebrate CCAP Partnership
A great day for Roanoke County, Virginia Western Community College and for students around the valley. On Tuesday, February 12 the partnership between Virginia Western Community College, the Virginia Western Educational Foundation and Roanoke County for the Community College Access Program (CCAP) was celebrated.
Those present to commemorate the event were the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors; Roanoke County School Board; Dr. Lorraine S. Lange, Superintendent of Roanoke County Schools; Dr. Robert H. Sandel, President of Virginia Western Community College; Virginia Western Community College Educational Foundation Board of Directors; other business and community leaders.
This partnership marks an extension to Virginia Western’s entire service region and will give high school graduates the chance to attend college tuition free.
Superintendent of Roanoke County Schools, Lorraine Lange said, “I’m excited that we can be a part of Virginia Western in this endeavor. Virginia Western is a gem and I’m grateful to the Board of Supervisors for providing this opportunity.”
This partnership will allow those kids who may have not been able to afford tuition, the opportunity to attend college.
Chairman of the Roanoke County Board and Vinton Supervisor, Mike Altizer said he is, “excited that Roanoke County is becoming an investor in our youth.”
