Hidden Valley High School junior and Divine Dance Center student, Christina Lauria, recently earned herself a highly desired apprenticeship with the Tremaine Dance Company.
This past July, Christina flew to Los Angeles and auditioned among hundreds of other dancers. Only 65 dancers receive apprenticeships, and a month later in August she was informed of her offer.
As an apprentice, Christina travels with the company to conventions on weekends, assists teaching classes with well-known choreographers, and practices in rehearsals for the final show performed on the last day of each convention.
Conventions are held in hotel ballrooms across the country. For her first convention held in October, she traveled to Atlanta, Ga., and this past weekend she traveled to Orlando, Fla., for the second convention.
As an apprentice, you are required to travel to at least six conventions each season. This season, Christina plans to travel to cities such as Washington, D.C., and New York, N.Y.
The conventions are mostly every weekend. She is really enjoying her experience.
