Signs of life can be seen around the former home of Famous Anthony’s in Christiansburg.

Just over two months after the Radford Road location of the restaurant closed for good, a sign appeared out front which read, “El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant Coming Soon,” and work vehicles could be seen in the parking lot.

The new restaurant’s co-owner David Flores admitted they have a lot of work to do to transform the building into his restaurant, but they are hoping to officially open the first week of May.

Flores said the restaurant will be patternedĀ  after his partner Antonio Lopez’s other two restaurants, located in Roanoke. Lopez owns El Rodeo Mexican Restaurants located on Plantation Road and Williamson Road.

Flores said the Christiansburg location will have a similar menu to the Roanoke locations and also intends to serve alcohol.

  1. Are the Roanoke El Rodeos (and the Christiansburg one, when it opens) not affiliated with the El Rodeo in Blacksburg? I had assumed that they were, but your article implies to me that they are not.

  4. @Bill: You are correct. According to Flores, the Williamson Rd. and Plantation Rd. locations are the only El Rodeos in the area Lopez owns.
