What better way to kick off your summer fun than stopping by the annual kickoff of the Radford Farmers Market on May 12, 2012. There will be locally made crafts, children’s games and activities, live music, and area organizations in addition to our local farmers market vendors with their selection. Located in the Norwood Square parking lot, right next to the University BP in the 1100 block of East Main Street, the kickoff event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The kickoff is also a time to reconnect with our dedicated farmers vendors that have such offerings as jellies, local eggs, meat and cheese, baked goods, produce, and a vast assortment of daylilies, wildflowers and perennials and locally made gifts.
The Norwood Square lot will be closed that morning to accommodate additional craft vendors, plus kid’s crafts such as flower pot painting – perfect for a Mother’s Day gift – crafty caterpillars and pinwheels. More vendors are scheduled to join the market later in the season with fresh-cut flowers and local produce. So you will have to stop down at the market, where you will probably end up spending the morning, taking in everything from live music, fresh produce and crafts.
