Virginia Tech fraternity donates $6,700 to NRV Special Olympics
On May 8, at Special Olympics weekly softball practice, the brothers of Phi Sigma Kappa Epsilon Hexaton of Virginia Tech presented NRV Special Olympics with a donation of $6,700. Accepting the donation was Erika Bookout, a Special Olympics Global Messenger. Kyle Meyerhoff, philanthropy coordinator for Phi Sig presented the check. He was accompanied by Doug Brainard, president, and fraternity brothers Kyle Donovan, Anthony Berlenback, and Tommy Saunders.
Phi Sig raised the money during “Phi Sig Olympics,” a week-long philanthropy event. Phi Sig supports Special Olympics throughout the year by volunteering at events and also participates in the annual Highland Polar Plunge. NRV Special Olympics softball teams will participate in a softball tournament in Bedford on May 19-20, and bowlers, track and field athletes, and swimmers will join softball players in state competition in Richmond on June 8-10.
