Photos from the Ride of Silence in Radford
With camera in hand, this roving photographer attended the Ride of Silence on Wednesday evening. Bikers filled the parking lot of the old Central Lumber Co. After welcoming remarks by Frank Taylor, the somber procession followed a police escort. The was also an officer on a bike to assist in keeping everyone safe along the route. Riders passed by the “ghost bike” that was placed at the entrance to Bisset Park in memory of Fess Green at the site where he was fatally struck by a car.
There was an interesting array of bicycles: a recumbent, a flower “wagon,” an elliptical, a unicycle, and a bike with a trailer hauling a little boy, a tandem with a small child on the back, along with many standard two-wheelers.
