Tech students awarded by P.E.O. Sisterhood in Blacksburg
Chapter AU, Virginia, of the P.E.O. Sisterhood in Blacksburg has recently awarded Jean B.
Duerr Memorial Scholarships for 2012-13 to three recipients. The award was established in
1992 in memory of Jean Duerr, who was a member of P.E.O. for more than 44 years. P.E.O. is
an international organization which promotes higher education opportunities for women.
Scholarships of $2000 were awarded to three Virginia Tech students: Jennifer Dawn Canon-Rothkopf, a senior in Biochemistry; Kirsten Elizabeth Miller, a senior seeking a B.A. in Geography and a B.S. in Psychology; and Heather Frances Reeves, entering the Maryland-Virginia College of Veterinary Medicine.. In addition to strong academic credentials, each of these students is a leader in extracurricular activities, contributes to the service for the community, and has received honors in her field of study.
