Christy Brown received the 110% award for Area 9 at the Rotary Club district conference.

The 110% Award is an award presented by the district governor and recognizes one individual from the eight rotary clubs in Area 9 who has excelled in carrying out the Rotary mission for a lengthy period of time.

Christy has demonstrated Service Above Self in many areas: by taking the lead in getting Malawi library efforts accomplished; pursuing a possible new club in Shawsville; starting up an Interact club at Blacksburg High School; serving on board as past president; maintaining contact along with Bill Ellenbogen with Bridges to Prosperity Haiti project; and attaining district simple grant for assistance to food pantry and a grant for assistance in Zambia.

Christy continues to be a fine example to all of us in Area 9, demonstrating what can be achieved when you put enough effort into the task and overcome barriers.
