Blacksburg High School hosts 6th annual David Crist football camp
The 6th Annual David Crist Youth Football Camp will be held on the evenings of July 16th- July 19th at Bill Brown Stadium in Blacksburg for players ages five years old through rising 8th graders.
The camp will be run by Blacksburg High School head football coach Dave Crist and staff; area youth league coaches; as well as various alumni.
The camp will focus on the basic fundamentals, as well as team concepts through 7-on-7 play, with an emphasis on the safest way to play the game. This is not a “specialty” camp; every camper will be taught every position to gain the most knowledge and skill possible.
This is a non-contact camp, therefore no equipment is necessary, though cleats are recommended.
The week will conclude Thursday with a cookout where players can watch Blacksburg High School varsity players compete in an “Iron Man” competition, while also mingling with the coaches and players.
Monday through Wednesday the camp will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday it will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., including the end of camp cookout and celebration.
The cost of the camp is $50, which includes a camp t-shirt, an invitation to the Iron Man contest and cookout, as well as free admission with a paying adult (21 and over) to the Blacksburg Bruins first home varsity football game against E.C. Glass on August 17.
The camp is limited to 150 players, so preregistering is encouraged.
