Mountain View Humane receives $30,000 subsidy to spay/neuter cats

Posted July 19, 2012

Mountain View Humane Spay Neuter clinic located at 53 B. W. Main St. in Christiansburg, is offering $1 cat sterilizations for any trapped cat living in Montgomery County thanks to funds provided by Montgomery County. Additional discounts are offered, including $11 for outdoor cats in carriers and $30 for house cats.

“This is a really good offer, and one that will end when the subsidy run out,” says Mountain View Executive Director Kelly Cass. “The board of supervisors approved this pilot project to begin addressing the pet overpopulation in Montgomery County. We really want to see pet owners take advantage of these greatly reduced spay/neuter surgeries for not only their community but for the health of their animals. It’s been proven that a spayed or neutered pet lives an average of 2 years longer.”

Mountain View Humane is a 501(c)3 organization that relies on grant funding and donations to offer free to low-cost sterilization services for pet owners in the community. For more information, call 382-0222 or visit mountainviewspayneuter.org
