Last call for New River Cleanup volunteers at Saturday event
There is still a need for volunteers for the Fall Into the New River Cleanup Event on Aug. 25. Participation can be either on the water or on land if you are not comfortable floating in a canoe. Please sign up as soon as possible so Giles County knows how many volunteers to expect. If you sign up on our calendar, please also call 921-2525 to register for the event.
NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGE IN THE MEETING LOCATION: The location for assembling on Aug. 25 is now at Eastern Elementary School on 460 (just before Pembroke, heading west from Blacksburg. Sign-up will begin about 8 a.m., with shuttles leaving for river put-in by 9 a.m. Volunteers will reassemble for a county-provided lunch at Eastern Elementary School by noon.
