“To begin new friendships and continue old ones” is the object of the Potpourri Club, which has been in existence for more than 30 years. The club has 50 members, and new members are always welcome. The organization meets six times a year – in September, October, November, March, April and May – for lunch at 11:15 a.m. in Preston’s at the Virginia Tech Inn followed by a program. Our next meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 19, and reservations are required.

For our first fall meeting in September, B. Scott Crawford, historian, teacher, researcher and author will present a program on his research of a portrait of Jane Lacey that was painted by Lilly Martin Spencer during the 1850s.

Anyone interested in attending, please phone Julia at 540-961-2655 or MaryElizabeth at 540-552-1207 by Thursday, Sept. 13.
