Blacksburg program to help with home repairs

Posted September 13, 2012

The Town of Blacksburg announced the creation of the Emergency and Minor Home Repair Program on Wednesday.

The program intends to help qualified homeowners obtain free emergency and minor repairs to substandard housing conditions.

In order to qualify, homeowners must meet the current HUD “low-to-moderate” income standards at the time of application and live in an owner-occupied home inside the corporate limits of Blacksburg.

Additionally, the program allows for accessibility modifications needed for the elderly and disabled. Improvements must directly affect the “immediate livability” of the home.

Ownership of the lot is not a prerequisite for participation in the program.

For more information about the program, contact Crystal Hypes, grants coordinator for the Town of Blacksburg, at 951-4336.
