The Alleghany Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, along with the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library, celebrated Constitution Week from Sept 17-21.
On Monday, Sept. 17, the activities commenced at the Blacksburg Public Library with Blacksburg Mayor Ron Rordam’s reading of the Daughters of the American Revolution Proclamation and speaking about the significance of the U.S. Constitution.
Members of the Alleghany Chapter DAR read the Constitution in six parts. The readers were Judith Jones, Joann Sutphin, Phyllis Eschenmann, Susie Jones, Pat Kellogg, Karen Finch and Patty Manthe.
The one-hour program provided the opportunity for community members to consider the achievement and vision of our Founding Fathers and the actions of Americans who made possible governance by “We the People.”
