Darin Greear, a Long & Foster Realtors agent with the New River Valley office in Blacksburg and member of The Palmer Team, made a monetary donation that will provide 20,000 nutritious servings of food to The Society of St. Andrews from money he and wife Tabitha collected from selling corn they raised on their farm in Riner.

This monetary donation is nothing compared to the donation of food the Greears make yearly. The Greears raise more than 6 acres of turnips and now beets for the sole purpose of donating these vegetables to The Society of St. Andrews, an organization that provides fruits and vegetables to many local hunger relief agencies.

There is a huge need for volunteers to help harvest in the fall. Harvesting is very easy, and even small children are capable.

If you would like to find out more information, contact Darin Greear at 320-5859 or contact Sarah Ramey of Virginia Gleaning Network, Society of St. Andrews, at (434) 299-5956 or (800) 333-4597.
