Residents of Wheatland Hills Sweet Memories decorated a pumpkin this week that will be part of Virginia’s Governor’s Mansion fall decorations. Sweet Memories is a specified division of Wheatland Hills Assisted Living that caters to our Residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia. With many different daily activities that are tailored to memory recognition, pumpkin decorating is a very popular activity in the fall.

Last week, Jennifer Baker, memory care coordinator, and a group of Residents decorated a pumpkin by painting, transforming their own fingerprints into pumpkins and spiders. The Residents decided that since Halloween is right around the corner, they wanted to decorate the pumpkin with the holiday in mind. This pumpkin is now on it’s way to Richmond to be displayed along with other fall decorations at the Governor’s Mansion.
