16th-annual Hokies for the Hungry food drive is Nov. 8
The Marching Virginians and New Life Christian Fellowship are joining forces again this year to sponsor a massive canned food drive in conjunction with the Virginia Tech-FSU football game on Thursday, Nov. 8. The goal of the ambitious 16th-annual Hokies for the Hungry drive is to collect 66,233 cans of food – one can from every fan!
Logan Thomas, the dynamic quarterback for the Hokies, is serving as honorary chairperson of Hokies for the Hungry.
“As the 2012 holiday season approaches, let us share in the spirit of Thanksgiving with friends, family and those within this special community. This time of the year provides a wonderful opportunity to share and help provide for the less fortunate families and individuals throughout the region. It is my hope that Virginia Tech and Florida State fans will find it in their hearts to share and donate towards an exceptional cause during this special time of year.”
Drop-off points for Hokies for the Hungry are at all entrances to Lane Stadium and various locations near the stadium where Tailgate Pep Bands will be performing prior to kickoff.
All contributions will be distributed through the Montgomery County Christmas Store.
