Giles Free Clinic celebrates 5-year anniversary
The Giles Free Clinic celebrated its 5-year anniversary on Oct. 22. The Giles Free Clinic was founded in October 2007, with a U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration Rural Health Outreach Grant. When it opened, the Giles Clinic only operated 20 hours a week with a part-time practitioner. Since then, the clinic has expanded to 40 hours of patient care per week serving 1,200 patients from Giles and Bland counties and some West Virginia counties, providing more than 18,000 visits.
“The Giles Free Clinic has come a long way in the past five years, and we are so thankful for the volunteer help provided by local medical practitioners and the free services provided by Carilion Giles Community Hospital,” said executive director Michelle Brauns.
The Giles Clinic had an open house for the community to celebrate this milestone. For more information about the clinic, call 921-3502 or visit http://www.nrvfreeclinic.org/giles-clinic.html.
