Wheatland Hills Radford memory care unit to open in late November

Posted November 7, 2012

Commonwealth Assisted Living, a Charlottesville-based company specializing in management of senior housing communities throughout Virginia, will be opening its memory care unit in late November.

Wheatland Hills Radford is located at 7486 Lee Highway across the New River from Radford University. The community primarily caters to assisted living residents with a separate wing to accommodate 11 additional memory care suites. The Sweet Memories program will provide 24-hour trained staffing, healthy family-style dining and an active social program designed to stimulate mind and body to those experiencing memory loss in a safe and secured environment. For residents who want an additional level of independence with the added support of daily lifestyle services, Wheatland Hills Radford also offers senior apartments in an adjacent building.

Commonwealth Assisted Living owns and operates 15 facilities throughout Virginia. Nine of its communities offer their specialized Alzheimer’s/Dementia program, Sweet Memories. Recently Commonwealth Assisted Living was given Best Practice Award for its signature Sweet Memories Program by Virginia Assisted Living Association.
