Christmas Bazaar at Haven’s Chapel Food Pantry is Saturday, Nov. 24
A Christmas Bazaar to benefit Haven’s Chapel Food Pantry will be held Saturday, Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be hotdogs, pork barbecue, apple butter and homemade hot chocolate and baked goods for sale, a silent/sealed bid auction and door prizes.
Vendors and crafters will have honey, jams and jellies, children’s books, handcrafted pottery, wooden toys and crocheted items. There will also be a medical information vendor, as well as skin care items, scented candles and lots of chocolate!
Admission is 50 cents, or free with a canned-food donation.
The bazaar was introduced last year to help with costs at the food pantry, which receives no assistance from larger food pantries or the government. Setting the bazaar for the Saturday after Thanksgiving allows the pantry to focus not only on food and thanksgiving, but on Small Business Saturday.
The food pantry began in the summer of 2008 to help people that just couldn’t stretch their paycheck enough to provide food for their family. Four years later, the number of patrons/families that visit the pantry each month has increased more than 600 percent.
Volunteers work tirelessly day in and out to ensure that there is enough food to help each person or family that visits the Floyd Parish Food Pantry each month. The pantry is open the third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Haven’s Chapel is located at 3375 Daniels Run Road in Check. For more information, call 392-5496 or visit http://www.facebook.com/ChristmasBazaarHavensChapel.
