Posted November 24, 2012

Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc., the largest independent residential real estate company in the United States, has announced that its Blacksburg office will launch its annual toy drive Nov. 21 to benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves’ Toys for Tots Campaign and children throughout the entire New River Valley.

Toys may be dropped Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Long & Foster’s Blacksburg office located at 3601 Holiday Lane in Blacksburg (on the corner Main Street and Yellow Sulphur Road). All donations must be made prior to Dec. 14.

Long & Foster offices throughout the mid-Atlantic region are participating in the Toys for Tots donation drive. This year marks the company’s 22nd year participating in the holiday collection campaign.

“We at Long & Foster are part of the community in which we operate, and we’re honored to have this opportunity to not only contribute to the Toys for Tots initiative, but to give our fellow community members a convenient location to make their donations,” said Louise Baker, co-manager of the Blacksburg office.

“It is a pleasure to work with Buck Wrenn and the rest of the gentlemen at the Marine Corps League, New River Valley DET. #1190 to make sure that less fortunate children in our area are the recipients of some holiday cheer,” added co-manager Beth Dalton.

Through Dec. 14, each of the company’s more than 170 sales offices throughout seven states and the District of Columbia will accept donations for disadvantaged children. Long & Foster employees at the company’s corporate headquarters in Chantilly, Va., will also participate in the annual holiday campaign.

Once the toys are collected and presented to the U.S. Marines, they are distributed through churches and social welfare agencies to the neediest children throughout the community. The Toys for Tots Campaign, started by the Marines in 1947, is an annual toy collecting drive that now reaches across 520 communities throughout 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
