United Way seeks donations for Christmas assistance program
With the help of local volunteers, companies and donors, United Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd was able to serve more than 525 people with a Thanksgiving meal.
Each family received a prepared box with all the holiday fixings and a gift card that could be used to purchase a turkey or ham.
The Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program, Radford-Fairlawn Daily Bread and Floyd County Emergency Assistance Program along with other volunteers, companies and donors helped make the endeavor a success.
Now that the Thanksgiving holiday has passed, United Way is now focusing on the Toys from the Heart, Christmas assistance program.
This program serves children ages 18 and younger with toys, sports equipment, personal items, a Christmas tree and a dinner box.

I was wondering how to get help for Christmas this year. I have 2 children 4 and 2 1/2 and we are only able to spend $50 dollars for both children. I am just heart broken because they are at that age where this time is suppose to be so much fun. My daughter is amazed with all the christmas lights and my son sees everything and asks me to tell Santa Claus to get it for him. I am dreading Christmas Day because my heart can’t take the look of disappointment. So if you could please point me in the direction I would really appreciate it. Thank You and Merry Christmas.
