Downtown Blacksburg Inc. announces ‘Steppin Out’ t-shirt design contest
Downtown Blacksburg Inc. is seeking submissions for the Steppin’ Out T-shirt design contest.
The annual summer festival will be held Aug. 2-3, 2013, in downtown Blacksburg.
Profits from T-shirt sales fund the event and support downtown and community improvements and activities such as the Farmers Market, the Downtown Master Plan, downtown benches, the Hand-in-Hand playground, the Arts Initiative, economic development and numerous downtown festivals.
Designs should reflect the character of Steppin’ Out, downtown Blacksburg or the region.
Judging will be done by a panel of downtown merchants. The winning artist will be awarded $500 and will be profiled through advertising/news articles, in store windows where T-shirts are sold prior to the festival, and at Steppin’ Out.
Concept sketches are due Friday. They should be delivered to the Downtown Blacksburg Inc. office at 149 College Ave., in the Community Arts Information Office. Submissions can also be mailed to P.O. Box 233, Blacksburg, VA 24063. The design/artist will be chosen and final camera ready artwork will be due by Feb. 22, 2013.
A maximum of six colors can be used on the shirt back and two colors for the pocket logo. The shirt back design must incorporate the words “Downtown Blacksburg” and the date “August 2 & 3, 2013.” The pocket logo should include the words “Steppin’ Out.”
