Photos: A Best Shot memory from Nancy Kent
“The photo of the two cardinals was published in the Current as The Best Shot on Jan. 8, 2005. I was delighted, not only because it was the first photo I had ever had published but also because I had finally been successful in emailing it at the required resolution! I had tried unsuccessfully for a month or more to try to send Best Shots, and the newspaper staff had been very helpful. I’d had my digital
camera for about six months and figured out how to use several of its features, but I was still learning about using my computer for editing.
When I took a second look at the photo and re-cropped it, I realized that there was another bird in the picture – a chickadee that was flying away from the feeder. I decided that the two red birds made a better balanced photo, but the little gray bird in flight completed the story. This is still one of my favorite bird images regardless of the cropping.”

What a beautiful picture. I live in Danville and saw a cardinal last week. I’m also seeing blue birds.
