Best of Blacksburg Raffle Winners: VICCC and NRV Cares
This year’s “Best of Blacksburg” Raffle is now a memory, but a happy one for the winners of its items, and the two local charities it supported and which shared over $1100 in proceeds. For the 5th year, Dr. Steve Jacobs, Optometrist, and his staff coordinated this raffle to benefit VICCC (Valley Interfaith Child Care Center) and NRV Cares, child-oriented non-profits serving some of our community’s most vulnerable members.
Over 30 local businesses donated items, ranging from jewelry to a squirrel feeder to gift certificates for everything from local delectables to car care, hair care, back care, lawn care and more. If there’s one thing you can say about the NRV, it cares!!! Tickets were $5, or 3 for $10, and were sold primarily through Dr. Jacobs’ office. With so many items in the kitty this year (some businesses donated multiple certificates – how can you go wrong with 3 gift cards from Carol-Lee or the Chocolate Spike?), five winners were able to partake in the bounty.
If the past is any prelude, even more items will be donated to fill the display cases next year, and even more money will be raised to further the efforts of these wonderful organizations.
Mark your calendars and check Dr. Jacobs’ Facebook page for “Best of Blacksburg Raffle” #6 beginning next September.
Thank you to all businesses who donated and to everyone who bought a ticket.
