NRV Agency on Aging announces events for caregivers
On March 15, as a precursor to the annual Caring Connections Caregiver Conference and Resource Fair, Teepa Snow will be conducting an afternoon training session for professional caregivers that will highlight assessing persons with dementia as well as fall risk reduction through enhanced mobility. The training session will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., with registration and networking with other professionals beginning at 12:30 p.m. The training session will be held in 117 Edwards Hall at New River Community College.
On March 16, the New River Valley Agency on Aging, with conference support services through the New River Community College Workforce Development Center, will host its 5th Annual Caring Connections Caregiver Conference and Resource Fair.
The full day event, held in Edwards Hall at New River Community College, Dublin, is dedicated to support informal/ unpaid/ family caregivers who strive to meet the needs of loved ones for whom they provide care. Through the support of numerous sponsors, exhibitors, and contributors, we are able to provide this opportunity to caregivers at no cost. This conference will afford caregivers the opportunity to obtain information and guidance from health care providers, aging specialists, health-care advocates, long-term care providers, community-based agency representatives, elder-care professionals, and other experienced professionals who are familiar with the informational needs of those caring for the aging and disabled populations. A continental breakfast and lunch will also be provided.
Even though this event is free to informal/ unpaid/ family caregivers, registration is required in order to arrange for food and refreshments for the day. Professional caregivers may attend for a minimal fee.
