Tech to host Landsat 8 events ahead of Monday launch
The Southwest Virginia Chapter of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing is organizing events on the Virginia Tech campus to celebrate the launch Monday of Landsat 8 from Vandenberg Air Force Base.
The group will host a public viewing of the NASA/USGS press conferences at the geography classroom, McBryde 136, from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday. Food and refreshments will be available.
On Monday, there will be a public viewing of the launch from Vandenberg AFB as carried by NASA TV. The event will commence at 12:10 p.m. and will last until launch or abort. Launch window is from 1:02 to 1:50 p.m. Food and refreshments will be provided. All members of the public are welcome.
