Art Pannonia is very proud to present visionary surrealist STARROOT as the next featured artist in the downtown Blacksburg art gallery, where  fine art meets the best local and international artists in the New River Valley. The exhibition runs between April 4 – May 29. A reception for the artist will be Friday, April 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. Some of you know her as Ruth Newman, ARTIST, musician, poet and storyteller. She was born in Germany and from childhood Ruth created art incorporating inspirations, fantasies and dreams. Once she had a car accident, and survived an out-of-body adventure. During this escapade she met and was guided by a kind spirit to come to the USA and settle in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She did so, and experienced further various visions, including an alien encounter! This is the second show of STARROOT at Art Pannonia. She plans to exhibit a retrospective of her artistic JOURNEY. Her paintings are unusual, challenging and beautiful. You cannot compare her to any other artist. Combining folk art and surrealism, and incorporating Tibetan, Mayan and Native American cultures and traditions, the paintings are rendered in vibrating bright colors, full of aliens and space animals, fairies and angels. Starroot has exhibited in numerous art festivals and has sold hundreds of originals and prints to various collectors in the U.S. and Germany. Her “Mirror GODDESS” hangs in the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. ART PANNONIA is fortunate to show her work. Please come and meet STARROOT, the artist with the Sixth Sense.
