‘Girls Can Do Anything’ April 28 fundraiser coincides with National Princess Week
Downtown Blacksburg Inc. and The Lyric Theatre present a fundraising event for the Women’s Resource Center. “Girls can do anything” will include showing the movie “The Princess Diaries,” a Princess Power Walk, crafting activities, and so much more.
The event will take place as part of the National Princess Week celebration which was recently announced by Julie Andrews, in collaboration with Target and The Walt Disney Company. The event highlights Julie Andrews’ longtime dedication to nurturing every child’s unique spirit, as demonstrated throughout her career on stage, screen and through her children’s book endeavors. National Princess Week will celebrate the sparkle and imagination of every princess – real, aspiring or imagined.
The Blacksburg event is scheduled to take place Saturday, April 28 to mark the final day of the weeklong national celebration and will begin at 12:30 p.m. in The Lyric Theatre. Tickets will cost $5 and will go on sale April 2 in The Lyric Theatre box office and in Next Door Bake Shop.
Following the success of the Royal Wedding Viewing Party of April 2011, guests will be encouraged to dress as royalty! Women from many career paths – from Town Council member to Firefighter; from Rescue Squad member to Baker; from Engineer to Artist – will be on hand to share the news that Girls Can, in fact, do ANYTHING!
