The capture of Jeff Davis was not a rumor, the fact he wore a dress was not a rumor, in fact, it&#039;s quite clear from his wife&#039;s own letter, that Jeff Davis was not only wearing a dress, not only wearing three different female garments (because she describes them) but that Davis was running like a coward leaving his own small children behind as bullets were flying.   

The fact that Confederate &quot;scholarship&quot; can make this seem like a rumor is an indictment of all such scholarship.     His own wife and soldiers wrote about his female garments, AND his cowardly run.   But just because Davis wore a dress -- yes he did -- and because he ran away as his children were in danger, is not the point.  The point is, even 150 years later, it&#039;s not politically correct to show the truth about Southern leaders.]]></description>
