Meet-the-artist event with A’Court Bason is Dec. 12 at Oddfella’s in Floyd
Local artist A’Court Bason will show his visionary oil paintings and prints at two downtown Floyd venues — Oddfella’s Cantina and Black Water Loft — through late January 2013.
Oddfella’s Cantina will host a meet-the-artist hour Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 6 p.m. Come out and enjoy art, libation and conversation to kick off the dinner hour.
Bason, a resident of Floyd since 1971, began pursuing oil painting as another medium for expressing his creativity in the late 1990s. His style, technique and vision have evolved over the years as he offers images, symbols and color to inspire and captivate viewers.
In September 2011, Bason sustained a hard fall from a horse, resulting in several broken bones – the most painful of which (and slowest to heal) being his upper right arm and shoulder. While recovering and dealing with pain daily, he is very grateful to still be able to paint.
He is happy also to have manifested enough work to fill the two venues, as well as being featured at a friend’s new store, Ripple, on the market in downtown Roanoke for the extended holiday season.
Many of his new works are on small canvas to make them more affordable for people to own or to buy as a gift of original art. Bason also recently teamed with the new shop A Little Monkey Business to create art prints of several of his works, now available in a variety of sizes at Oddfella’s Cantina.
Later this season, Bason looks forward to joining other local talents at Nary Ordinary Business Services to update his website with more information, images and a more user-friendly interface.
