Posted January 18, 2013

New River Valley writers of poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction are invited to submit works for the Valley Voices 3rd juried public reading in Blacksburg on Sunday, April 21. Six writers will be selected by judges Tiffany Trent (fiction) and Jim Minick (poetry and creative nonfiction).

Submission deadline is Feb. 6.

Writers are invited to submit up to 3 poems with a maximum of 65 lines per poem and/or one prose entry with a maximum of 3000 words.

Excerpts from novels will be accepted if shaped as stand-alone short stories.

Works should be in 12-point type with one-inch margins. Prose should be double spaced. The cover page should bear the writers name, contact info, word count, and category (poetry, fiction, non-fiction). The top of each successive page should include the title, category, and page number.

Submissions should be emailed to nrvalleyvoices@gmail.com. Writers will receive an email confirmation of submission receipt within five days.

Valley Voices is an initiative by three local writers to provide New RiverValley writers with a forum and audience for their work. The group will provide coaching and rehearsal for writers participating in the April reading.
