New Voice: Young Innovations Exhibit to open Jan. 25 at the Jax
The Jacksonville Center for the Arts, as part of its commitment to supporting young adult artists, presents New Voice: Young Innovations. This Hayloft Gallery exhibit begins Jan. 25 and will be on display through March 16. A Meet the Artists reception takes place Feb. 9 at 4 p.m.
“New Voices” will showcase the work of 12 artists with the goal of providing each artist with enough space to show a small body of work while giving the community a wide range of new art to view and appreciate. Artists selected have achieved a bachelor’s degree or higher in art, and/or are currently working professionally in the art field. “New Voice” is an exhibit that not only gives an opportunity for artists to exhibit their work, but an occasion to share what they have learned – new skills, techniques, styles, and mediums. In this exhibit we seek to give the community fresh inspiration and exposure to these emerging artists. In addition, the show’s opening reception will feature young musicians, dancers, and other performance artists.
The exhibit will include over 50 pieces of artwork from the following artists: Lore Deighan, Julie Hawkins, Sidra Kaluszka, Jason Lancaster, Aislinn Lowry, Nick Millinazzo, Erika Ogier, Nathan Popp, Aven Tanner, Shaun Whiteside, David Wicks, & Megan Zalecki.
“The Hayloft Gallery Committee chose to open this year with an exhibit of emerging artists. Encouraging those who are just beginning their journey on the artistic path is one of the missions of the Jacksonville Center,” said Jayn Avery, Hayloft Gallery Committee Member. “The exciting contributions of the new artists are their unique and raw expressions. Like a budding flower, the full bloom is just under the first swells of inspiration.”
