Local governments provide energy training for builders and contractors Feb. 15 and 22
The Town of Christiansburg, in conjunction with the Town of Blacksburg and Montgomery and Pulaski Counties, is helping prepare area builders and contractors for upcoming changes in requirements for building energy efficient homes.
Included in the 2009 update to the International Energy Conservation Code, the requirements for energy efficient residential construction go into effect this year and gradually become more stringent through 2017.
Local governments in the area are working together to ensure area builders and contractors are aware and prepared for the changes by holding training sessions on February 15th and again on the 22nd at the Christiansburg Fire Department, 110 Depot St. Each session will cover the building plan submittal process and requirements for inspections.
There is no charge to attend the training and refreshments will be provided. Please sign-up by calling Cathy Cook at 558-0711.
If a builder or contractor is interested in learning more but unable to attend either session, they are encouraged to contact Christiansburg Building Official Jerry Heinline at jheinline@christiansburg.org or (540) 382-6120.
