Blacksburg Police to host Law Enforcement Memorial Parade on Saturday, May 5

Posted May 4, 2012

The Blacksburg Police Department will be hosting a Law Enforcement Memorial Parade on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 12 p.m. in downtown Blacksburg.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week. This week honors those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The Blacksburg Police Department, along with area law enforcement agencies, invites the public to attend so we may honor our true heroes who made that sacrifice in the New River Valley: Officer Terry Griffith, Officer Scott Hylton, Corporal Eric Sutphin, and Officer Deriek Crouse.

The parade will travel south on Main Street from Turner Street to Eheart Street.
