‘Women’s Night Out’ event to offer free health information May 22 in Christiansburg
The American Cancer Society’s New River Valley Breast Health Team invites area women to a fun and informative “Women’s Night Out” on Tuesday, May 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. This free event will be held at the Montgomery County Health and Human Services Building, 210 S. Pepper St., Christiansburg. Registration is requested but not required.
Women of all ages are invited to enjoy light refreshments, free gifts, a variety of activities and women’s health information. During this event, low-income, uninsured and underinsured women ages 40 to 64 may apply for the Every Woman’s Life program for free mammograms through the Susan B. Komen Foundation. EWL is a public health program that helps uninsured, low-income women gain access to free breast and cervical cancer screening services. Screening and early detection reduce death rates, improve treatment options and greatly increase survival.
Women’s Night Out is sponsored by the New River Valley Breast Health Team, which includes the American Cancer Society, Carilion Clinic EWL, LewisGale Hospital-Montgomery LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski, the New River Health District and the Montgomery County Health Department.
For more information or to register for the event, please call the Montgomery County Health Department at 381-7100.
