Summer Solstice Fest and Carnival to be held in downtown Blacksburg on June 22-23
Downtown Blacksburg Inc. presents the fifth-annual Summer Solstice Fest and Carnival, two days of summer fun in downtown Blacksburg on June 22-23.
The event will take place on Main Street between Roanoke and Washington streets; on Lee Street between Church Street and Draper Road; and on Draper Road between Roanoke Street and the Kent Square Parking Garage.
The Brinkley Entertainment carnival will be held Friday, June 22 from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 10 p.m. and will be located in the First Church of God parking lot on Lee Street. The event will feature fairground rides and games for all ages. A Cabo Fish Taco Beach Party will be held Saturday.
Summer Solstice Fest will feature a dog parade, Downtown Sundown 5K Run, a beer garden, food, live music, Burnt Creative Indie & Vintage Craft Fair, dancing, a sand sculpture contest, Water Wars, a wing-eating contest and more. Live music will be provided by the PanJammers, Badunkafunk, Electric Woodshed, the Alliens and the Key West Band.
Summer Solstice Fest is a DEQ Certified Virginia Green Event. Sponsors include Freedom First Credit Union, Mike and Sue Drzal on behalf of LeClair Ryan, Wireless Zone, Dr. Steve Jacobs, WDBJ7 NRV Macoroni Kid Town of Blacksburg, Shelor, It Works, P.K.’s, Cafe de Bangkok, and Sharkey’s.
