Jessica Stuart shares the following grief support services available for community members at Good Samaritan Hospice, 1160 Moose Drive, Christiansburg. For more information, call 381-3171.

HOPE AND HOT CHOCOLATE:

Meetings are scheduled during the holiday season to help participants cope effectively with the demands of the holidays. Day and evening groups offered. These are held in November and/or December of each year.

KNITTY GRITTY GRIEF:

This grief support group combines knitting and crocheting and grief support. It allows each member to share their loss in a safe and compassionate environment while providing support through therapeutic interaction. After completing a project, each member may keep their knitting or donate it to a hospice patient. This group meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the Christiansburg office.

LIVING WITH LOSS PROGRAM:

For those who have experienced the loss of someone significant in their life. Eight weekly sessions combine grief education with group activities and discussion. The sessions are held in the spring and fall, with a group meeting in Roanoke and in Christiansburg. Pre-registration is required. Fall groups begin around the middle of September, and spring groups begin around the middle of March. For more information, please call our office.

LUNCH BUNCH:

This is an opportunity for those who have experienced a loss to get together for a casual lunch and conversation. Montgomery County Lunch Bunch meets on the first Tuesday of the month at a local restaurant, from 1 to 2:30. Giles County Lunch Bunch meets on the second Thursday of the month at 12:30 p.m. Please call the office for the location and to reserve a place.

PUZZLE PIECES:

Open monthly meeting for bereaved adults interested in understanding grief better and being able to talk with others dealing with loss. Puzzle Pieces is facilitated by hospice staff, which help group members identify where they are in their own grief journey and gain new insights or coping tools. This group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Good Samaritan from 5:30 till 7. Please call if interested.
